ENRICH THE LEARNING PROCESS BY JOINING AND PARTICIPATING IN OUR ONLINE COMMUNITY
Category management professionals find CMKG’s online community to be an invaluable resource whether it is our free public LinkedIn group (Category Management Learning Forum) and/or our subscription-based protected discussion community (Category Management Collaborative or CMC). As part of the CMC, personal and company information is anonymous so that information can be more freely shared without fear of revealing trade secrets; and, as part of membership, we provide an invaluable desktop reference and access to our six Survival Series live webinars.
Our objective: To create a cost-effective membership program that provides members with access to resources, coaching, examples, and tips & tricks that relate to Category Management.
COMPONENTS OF THE CMC:

TARGET MEMBERS:
Our membership group is primarily geared towards:
- Individuals who are relatively new to category management (5 years),
- Individuals with limited training or coaching in category management,
- Individuals who are in remote locations with limited internal resources,
- Individuals with managers who are not category management savvy,
- Individuals looking for new resources and ideas to solve business issues, and/or
- Individuals with a limited training budget!
OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAM:
- To provide tips, tricks and "how to's" available online through a "members only" forum,
- To provide a Desktop Category Management resource guide to all members. This will be updated on a regular basis, based on learnings from the membership group,
- To provide coaching to members in a large group environment,
- To anonymously ask questions and get feedback from experts and peers online, and
- To provide a "survival series" of live webinars focused on "things we wish we had known in our first five years of category management!".
COST OF MEMBERSHIP
The value of the membership (based on the cost of the webinars at $79 per plus the resource guide at $299) is over $600 per year. And as the membership group evolves, the value will increase. Following are the cost breakouts* for a one-year membership:
- Purchase before July 1, 2011: $400 USD per person
- Purchase after July 1, 2011: $500 USD per person
Individuals will be able to purchase their annual membership (when it expires) at the same cost of their initial purchase, as long as they maintain their membership.

The CMC concentrates its efforts on providing tools and resources to drive your personal development. You can start developing and tweaking your category management skills based on the ideas and examples generated in desktop resource, the forum, and the live webinars. It takes time and deliberate practice to continually grow and develop. To make the CMC useful, you have to engage in learning long before you need it it’s too late when you’re in the middle of a crisis.
Please contact the CMKG Team with any questions that you may have regarding the CMC through e-mail or phone (+1 403-547-2376). We hope you become a member!
